hoot partnered with Lawrence Batley Theatre on their Here & Now project called Walk In My Shoes to bring people people together across the generations.
Teaming the Lawrence Batley Theatre's extensive experience offering creative opportunities to young people with our ground-breaking Breathing Space groups for people with dementia and their carers and partners we brought together older and younger people to find out what it would be like to “walk in my shoes”.
Throughout Autumn 2021, young and old shared writing, stories and drama and discovered what they had in common and what was different about their lives. The experience was captured on film (watch below).
Walk In My Shoes was part of Here & Now, a national project supported by Arts Council England and Future Arts Centres, marking The National Lottery’s 25th birthday. Running in arts centres across the UK, Here & Now aimed to create new conversations and understanding between different groups of people who don’t usually have contact to develop new creative conversations.
“It was fantastic to bring together people with such a diverse range of ages and experiences. The connections made felt even more exciting after 18 months of lockdown separation.” Breathing Space Project Manager, Moira
