Breathing Space

Two people with craft materials

hoot's specialist arts and dementia project funded by Kirklees Council and the Kirklees CCG.

Breathing Space offers a range of free creative activities to people living with the early stages of dementia and carer or family member; promoting positive relationships, building confidence and enhancing wellbeing.

The Breathing Space project has featured on BBC Radio Leeds, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4. Participants of the programme have exhibited their work at Holmfirth Art Festival and Huddersfield Art Gallery.

We believe that people living with dementia can still enjoy new challenges and learn new things with the right opportunities and approach. Our focus is always on the positive and what's possible, rather than what isn't. Skilled, experienced artists design and deliver our activities and strive to make participation a fun, stimulating, enlightening and uplifting experience for people with dementia and their partner or carer.
